The AHEC Academy: A Health Training Resource for Upstate New York and Beyond
The Hudson Mohawk Area Health Education Center is now offering the AHEC Academy: A Health Training Resource for Upstate New York and Beyond. The Academy is a community resource for the training of health professionals. It provides education about various clinical and organizational management issues such as: innovation and technology adoption, change management, chronic disease management, human resource management, quality improvement, and financial management.
Academy Focus
The AHEC Academy strives to provide health professionals with clinical and organizational management training.
Why are we targeting health professional and management training?
The Academy focuses on health professional and management education for several reasons:
- Health professionals and managers are the decision makers in health care,
- Many good ideas exist to improve health services delivery and management, but are underutilized because of implementation failures,
- Implementation success depends upon evidenced-based management and effective evaluation of everyday workplace activities.
Why is the Academy unique?
Many AHECs provide general management education that often involves improving clinical skills. However, our workshops focus on getting participants to think about, make, and evaluate management and implementation decisions involving different real world situations that arise in everyday work environments. Therefore, our training may be directly applied to you, your profession, and the decisions you are called upon to make in your everyday jobs. In addition, we strive to make all our training flexible and interactive, to assure that it meets the needs of busy, working professionals.
